Bwammo's Blog

Hey there! I'm 25 years old and have been playing poker for a living for 6 years now. I currently coach and play 45/90/180 man MTTs and feel I offer...well a unique perspective to say the least. I'm Bwammo on FTP and BlunderLAFF7 on stars.

I started with 5 dollars a friend gave me on Stars and worked my way up from 1/2 cent NLHE to 2/4 NLHE when I realized that game wasn't enough to satisfy me.  So, I moved to cash PLO and destroyed that game.  Some time after that I realized my thirst for knowledge wasn't complete and I moved to MTTs and limit Omaha Hi/lo as well as limit Holdem.  I went on hiatus for a while and returned with a renewed perspective, and decided it was time to deal with SNGs...and so I have.  Began with standard speed 9-mans and moved around until finding my current home.  I've always prided myself on being able to make a living at every game I've played.

Tournament Dynamics: playing w/o looking at your cards

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

Certainly not to brag or anything, but I can(and have) beat most tournament games without looking at my cards…which can be done by observing every bit of information on the table and reacting properly to it.  A comparison can be drawn to that of a blind man.  The blind man cannot see, but he can [...]

Ok, wow; I’m back

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

What a month THAT was.  After getting a book in the mail sent by the one they call Tommy Angelo, and experiencing the worst “downswing” of my life…I’m a new man.  But alas, I’ve come out clean on the other side of a pretty mizerable 30 days.  It’s rather amazing to me what the mind [...]

Living and breathing poker

Monday, July 19th, 2010

Since returning from vegas I just can’t get poker out of my mind.  I know it’s of my own doing, because I set some pretty serious goals for myself going forward, but it’s amazing how this game can consume you(well, how it can consume me lol).

I’ve been picking up new students left and right; the [...]

Falling in love with Vegas

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

Before I boarded the plane to Vegas I was dealing with multiple fears…I was still borderline sick and on my last flight I developed a really neat little ear issue that rendered me deaf for a week.  In preparation for this time down I went to see an ear-nose-throat doc and he hooked me up [...]

Timing

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

I have none.  It’s 3 days before I go to vegas and I’m stuck in bed from sickness(yesterday was like this too).  Im just trying everything I can think of to make this go away before I’ve gotta get on a plane.  Last time I got on a plane sick I might have permanently damaged [...]

Refreshing outlook

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

The new surroundings are doing me well…allowing me time to focus on volume and coaching.  Since playing my first game on wednesday night I’ve put in 181 sngs.  This being tuesday at 12:24 am I’d say I’m doing pretty damn well compared to previous showings.  I honestly don’t even care about the profits this month…volume [...]

Woah, UPDATE

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

Dang I’ve been busy for a while.  Those $50+5s and I are finally starting to get familiar with one another.  Sometimes there’s just regs all over my nuts though and I’ve gotta unregister for the sng or risk losing EV.  This next 3 week period before the Moshman invasion hits Vegas I’m going to focus [...]

And the world keeps spinning

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Life goes on.  Days, week, months have been flying by with great alacrity as I’ve fallen into somewhat of a groove for the first time in ages.  Every day is somewhat the same with sprinkles of weird unexpected variance thrown in here and there…wake up at 10-11am, eat and start playing by noon thirty, grind [...]

Why Did You Raise? plus housesitting

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

The raising mentality is something that has spread like a plague over the entire poker landscape. For good and for bad, everyone seems to be raising a lot more than they were 5+ years ago. Many players, even profitable ones, have adopted the philosophy without even putting much thought into why they [...]

Know Your Regs

Monday, April 19th, 2010

(These ideas sprang from the bellies of STTs, but apply to most games)

These days there are regs(regulars) at every level and every type of game. Typically, for every reg at the table, you will lose a portion of your ROI. This is NOT always the case as there are varying degrees of reg-dom.

Some [...]
