Important Strategy Post: Aggressive 2-Betting

A lot of players insufficiently vary their 2-bet range.  Say you’re the button and are considering 2-betting wide.  But then you realize that wait, the cutoff has 1-bet / open-flatted.  So you’re not actually open 2-betting anymore if you follow through with your initial plan … what do you do?  I think in spots like that it’s important to go ahead and make that 2-bet, particularly if the CO has a high open 1-bet %.  The alternative is to 1-bet overflat behind, but 2-betting is a much more aggressive play!

    lol 2-BET FTW!

  2. Word up! Another great way to think about 2-betting in pots with 1-bettors is to take your typical open-raising range from whatever position you’re in, shave off the bottom 1/3ish of the range, and raise the rest (though in pots with multiple 1-bettors, you can consider some exploitative overlimps with small-medium pocket pairs).

  3. Well put Tony … Couldn’t have said that better myself!
