P90X: It’s finally time.

If you don’t know what p90x is you clearly aren’t watching enough paid programming shows(which isn’t necessarily a bad thing).  But for those who don’t, it’s a program the guys at Beachbody came up with that is bigger and badder than their other programs. It’s a 90 day extreme workout that transforms bodies into very functional artistic displays.  It combines workouts with eating appropriately and at the right times in the day.

When I first got p90x I was somewhat speculative, as I’m sure everyone is when they try something new like this…but after watching a couple of the DVDs to see what it was all about, I realized it was merely a very extensive guide of mostly bodyweight and freeweight exercises that I’ve seen or heard about throughout my life.  Granted I played 3 sports in highschool and have kept myself in decent shape since then, so I have a generally well rounded knowledge of ways to workout.

Last September I decided to give the program a shot.  I was hindered by bursitis in my right knee and some form of tendinitis/bursitis that has yet to be diagnosed in my left shoulder, so I figured it’d be best to take it easy on the lowerbody work and go light on any upperbody exercises that worked my shoulder too much.  I made my alterations to the program and rode out the 90 days somewhat loosely.  The results were definitely noticeable, but nothing terribly drastic.  Since then I have been doing light workouts of my own creation to make sure I didn’t lose too much muscle.

Well, the time has come to do the program for real!  I’ll be blogging my results and experiences throughout the 90 day excursion.  Hopefully my knee and shoulder can handle it!

The program starts out with a Fit Test, essentially getting an idea for your maximum in certain areas to compare with after completion of p90x:

Pullups:  7

Vertical Leap:  18 inches

Pushups:  33

Toe Touch:  3.25 inches beyond toes

Wall Squat:  57 seconds

Bicep Curls:  11 reps of 30lbs

They also suggest taking pictures of yourself for documentation of where you began:

    Give ‘er s**t Bwammo,

I thought about getting the program as well.

I’m interested to hear you final results. I could have lived without the nudies though ;)

    Seriously, GL
